Jannette Hope

Jannette Hope

Jannette is the Director responsible for HR management (the employees), funeral quality systems and procedures, participates in the Board, management and staff meetings, co-ordinates our ongoing employee education, and supervises the mortuary, administration, printing and multi-media, and catering. Jannette (nee Flavell) grew up in Highcliff, and attended Andersons Bay School, Tahuna Intermediate, and Bayfield High School. She has worked and managed restaurants and bars, and has managed and owned and operated catering firms at the Dunedin Town Hall, and Continental Caterers at Forbury Park Raceway. Jannette and Michael married in April 1989 in Hope and Sons Chapel. Jannette has coached basketball, and is a life member of the Andersons Bay Basketball Club. She played at age-group and senior representative level basketball for Otago.

Her whakapapa is Nga Puhi and Ngai Tahu. Jannette has been actively involved in Michael's participation in the professional organisations, has travelled widely visiting funeral homes, and attending informative and educational conferences and seminars, developing a wide ranging knowledge and appreciation of the funeral profession. Jannette’s favourite place in Dunedin is Whetu Nui, Karitane – because it is a true holiday spot – you can lie in bed until lunchtime with no guilt, then catch up with friends later in the day for a vino – what more could you want. Jannette is really confident she has a few years before she dies – and there will be a new band with the perfect song for her funeral by the time it is needed, but in the meantime she would like ‘Everything I Own’ by Bread if the event is closer than she thinks.
